District TB Control Society, Diu was established in Diu in Sept-2005 to implement DOTS and RNTCP Programme, wherein 123 patients are detected and all are under treatment & some are cured.
The said Society has been registered under the Society Act bearing under Society Act. The constitution is formed as per the criteria and norms from time to time.
The Health Officer is ex-officio as Member Secretary, District TB Officer and the District Collector is the Chairman and others members are also nominated.
Funds are allotted by the State TB Project Director, Daman, Annual audit are carry out regularly, Expenditure are incurred under various component and per the financial guidelines / norms provide TB Division.
Wall painting with the DOTS programme has been displayed in prominent places for wide publicity. Hoardings are also exhibited in crowded area.
District Leprosy Control Society, Diu was formed in Diu in 1995 to bring down the prevalence rate 1/10,000 population. The said Society has organized various activities for elimination leprosy from Diu district. Leprosy was assumed as Public Health problem. The prevalence rate of Diu at present is < 1.
At present the said society incur expenditure on maintenance of vehicles per the financial guidelines / norms provide Leprosy. Every Year audit is being carried out.
AIDS Control Society, Diu is implementing since May 1999. The main focus needs to orient the people about the awareness and prevention of AIDS / HIV control.
The following regular staffs are drawing the salary from the funds of the said Society.
The following staffs are appointed on contract basis.
At present Intergrated Counselling & Testing Centre Unit has been set up for people to utilize the service of 2 Counsellors by giving correct information about myths and prejudices regarding HIV/AIDS. ICTC is an important step towards normalizing HIV/AIDS infection in the community. I C T C is instituted in PHC and toll free service facilities is made available at Tel No. 1051
The National Rural Health Mission is implementing in District of Diu with special focus to provide quality health care and an aim to achieve the goals of the Mission.
The Vertical District Society i.e. National Leprosy Elimination Programme, National Programme Control of Blindness and National Tuberculosis Control Programme has already been merged with effect from 1-6-2008 which will work under one Umbrella i.e. N.R.H.M.
The main role of the Governing body / Members constituted under the District Health Society is to guide and manage public health institutions implementation of an Integrated District Action Plan in respect of funds received from Govt to guide the micro planning for services and training, organization of Health Camp at Anganwadi levels, services related to immunization and institutional delivery, supply of drugs, upgrading CHC to IPHS, utilization of Untied Fund at Sub centre level and strengthening outreach services through operationalization of mobile medical unit.
